Oscars 2021 Betting Odds

Despite the fact that the Covid pandemic has halted shooting schedules across the world, the show must go on and Oscars 2021 betting odds are already available! Among the favourites in Best Picture category are Nomadland (at 1.16) and The Trial of the Chicago 7 (at 6), whereas Chloe Zhao (at 1.04) is on a leading position among those nominated in Best Director category. The 93rd Academy Awards – or the Oscars if you prefer – will go ahead on April 25.

The ceremony will see the best films, actors and directors rewarded, with movies released between January 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021 all qualifying.

The nominations have now been revealed, and ahead of the ceremony in Los Angeles, we thought we’d take a look and see if we could uncover some Oscars 2021 predictions that might help us to profit at the bookmakers.

So grab yourself a bucket of popcorn and a nice cold drink as we reveal our Oscars 2021 betting tips.

1. Academy Awards 2021 Preview

It’s not been a great year for filmmaking given the complexities of making movies in the middle of the pandemic, and arguably that has led to a slightly below-par shortlist of potential Oscar winners.

There will be plenty of emotion in the room too, given that the most nominated film – Mank – was written by Jack Fincher, who sadly died before he got to see director son, David, finish the movie.

Meanwhile, best actor nominee Chadwick Boseman has also tragically died, and so he won’t have his moment of glory should he win for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Our 93rd Academy Awards predictions are that both will enjoy success posthumously – and deservedly so given the quality of the work that they have produced.

2. Oscars 2021 Predictions

As ever, art is subjective and so our Academy Awards 2021 predictions are based on what we think will do well with the judges, rather than our own opinions on the movies involved.

Our Oscars 2021 betting picks are based on the weight of the subject matter involved, the cast and the crew and their success at the Oscars, and just generally having that feel for a movie that has Academy Award written all over it.

Of course, we have to be open to surprises too – last year, Parasite won four Oscars despite being a foreign language film. It is an excellent piece of work if you haven’t seen it, but still it was quite a surprise that it enjoyed so much success.

2.1 Best Picture Winner Predictions

Best Picture leads the way in the 93rd Academy Awards odds, with Nomadland nominated alongside the likes of Mank, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Minari, Promising Young Woman and more.

2.2 Actor in a Leading Role

There won’t be a dry eye in the house should Boseman win Best Actor posthumously, while other nominees include Antony Hopkins – the oldest Oscar nominee in history – Oldman, Riz Ahmed and Steven Yeun.

2.3 Actress in a Leading Role

There have been some incredible performances by actresses this year, including Frances McDormand in Nomadland, Viola Davis in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Carey Mulligan in Promising Young Woman. Each has a chance in the Oscars 2021 Betting.

2.4 Directing

The Best Director category is an eclectic mix, featuring David Fincher (Mank), Chloe Zhao (Nomadland), Emerald Fennell (Promising Young Woman), Lee Isaac Chung (Minari) and Thomas Vinterberg (Another Round).

3. Oscars 2021 Betting Odds

The Oscars 2021 betting odds have been revealed, and Nomadland leads the way in the Best Picture category at 1.16, with The Trial of the Chicago 7 (6.00) and Minari (17.00) next best.]

Boseman is the red hot favourite in the Academy Awards 2021 odds for Best Actor at 1.08, while the question of who will win Best Actress Oscar 2021 hasn’t been answered by the odds – Mulligan is the 2.25 favourite, but the likes of Davis (2.75), McDormand (5.00) and Andra Day (6.50) are worth considering.

4. Oscars 2021 Tips

The aforementioned Mank is priced at 41.00 in the Best Picture category, and that could be a great outside bet. When looking at movies that could win Oscars 2021, this is right up there given the Fincher connection, the fact that Gary Oldman is an Academy Award veteran and that the movie on which this film is based, Citizen Kane, was also an Oscar winner!

It seems an easy question to answer as to who will win Best Actor Oscar 2021, with Boseman delivering a masterclass in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom – he’s a deserved winner, make no mistake.

Another great price in the 93rd Academy Awards betting odds is McDormand to win Best Actress. She is already a two-time Oscar winner, and delivers a powerhouse performance. Chloe Zhao, her director in Nomadland, is also likely to prevail at 1.04.

I'm so thrilled for our nominations! Thank you to the Academy! I'm grateful to have gone on this journey with our talented team of filmmakers and to have met so many wonderful people who generously shared their stories with us. Thank you so much to my academy peers for recognizing this film that is very close to my heart. - Chloé Zhao, Good Morning, America

One category we haven’t mentioned is Best Documentary, and here our money is on Time at odds of 5.50. This emotional piece is about a woman campaigning for the release of her husband, who has been imprisoned for his alleged part in a bank robbery. It’s truly captivating viewing.
