The 2020 Eurovision Song Contest is cancelled, because of the Coronavirus outbreak in the world. The Eurovision 2021 is planned to take place in Netherlands as they were victorious in 2019, so this tradition will not change. As always, the competition will be held in May, with two semi-finals and the final taking place in the same month.
It will be the fifth time Netherlands have hosted the contest but you must go back to 1980 to find the last time the Eurovision Song Contest was staged in the country. That year, it was staged in The Hague and Ireland won with the song “What’s Another Year” performed by Johnny Logan.
Who will come out on top in the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest? Read on for the first look at our Eurovision 2020 Predictions and the Eurovision 2020 odds to win.
1. Eurovision 2020 Predictions
When predicting who will win the Eurovision 2020 we can take a look at previous winners for a pattern. Since Denmark won in 2013, we have had a different winner each time, without the same country winning it twice over the past six years.
That suggests we could be in for another different winner in 2020 and Italy will be hoping to push on from their second place in Israel. The Italians have won Eurovision twice but the last time was back in 1990, the same year they hosted the FIFA World Cup.
Other Eurovision 2020 betting odds are pointing towards Scandinavian countries and out of these, Norway were the best placed in 2019.
They have not won the event for ten years and would make a welcome return to the winners podium.
Additional Eurovision 2020 favourites include Sweden, Denmark and Russia. Continue below for more Eurovision 2020 betting tips.
2. Eurovision New Countries
One nation who have yet to win the Eurovision Song Contest is Iceland. They have finished runners-up once, which was back in 1999 but would love to claim their first victory. Iceland would make a popular Eurovision 2020 winner and they did well in the 2019 edition, finishing in 10th place with 234 points.
North Macedonia would also be a first-time winner should they pull it off in Netherlands. North Macedonia finished in 8th place with 295 points having made their first appearance under their new name and can be proud of their achievement.
Can they go further next time and win the 2020 Eurovision Song Contest? Don’t forget to check for information regarding the Eurovision live stream which will be announced in the lead up to the event.
3. Eurovision Live Stream
